Wake Up America! · World trade · Energy (low cost and clean) · Honesty
We seem to be trending towards perilous ends. Our position and initiatives in World Trade have followed creating a world market with the rise of standards of living around the world, along with other mega exporters like Germany, Canada, England, China, Japan, South Korea, and more.
Meanwhile, retail dominance and profits seem to be ignored when assessing the trade balance. Companies like Walmart are world leaders, yet their product line (clothing) is dominated by products from China and Vietnam. Where are the studies that show the effects of profits from low-cost sources? What about the consumer benefits from a lower cost of living? World trade is much more complex than a pure trade imbalance. In a world where buyer markets are 95% outside the U.S.A., we need to treat the world outside the USA as customers who benefit from economic improvement. World trade is an ally to our success, not an evil temptress. Honesty is the USA’s mantra, but apparently, the modus operandi of our political dialogue is to tell citizens anything and deny or change it the next day. Honest dialogue is well thought out and morally grounded governance, and peace.
